Last Flag Flying

Melancholy and ironic “on the road” with three friends, former soldiers in Vietnam, on a journey to bury a son who died in a trivial shooting during his service in the war in Iraq.

Three different personalities that fit perfectly with each other, managing to support each other in the most difficult moments, as well as to goad and provoke each other when it comes to questioning the untouchable dogmas of their society.

As usual, Richard Linklater is an excellent director, very good at managing the times of the three actors who alternate in hilarious bickering, as well as in acute and painful reflections on past time and lost opportunities, against an increasingly technological present made of smartphones and internet and people increasingly isolated in their virtual corner of the world.
